Rachel Weisz loves working with Daniel Craig

Rachel Weisz thinks working with husband Daniel Craig is "really lovely".

The couple – who rarely appear in public together – were honoured at the Night of Opportunity gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York on Monday (07.04.14) for their work with The Opportunity Network (OppNet), which aims to help underprivileged teens get into education, which they fund, and launch successful careers, and the 44-year-old actress loved having the opportunity to collaborate on the project with her spouse.

She said: "It’s really lovely. It’s something that was incredibly natural and obvious to us."

Daniel, 46, added: "It’s not just the grand gesture that counts [when giving back] – it’s the everyday that matters."

However, Rachel – who has seven-year-old son Henry with former partner Darren Aronofsky – admitted meeting the teenagers had caused her to shed some tears.

She told People magazine: "I’ve met several of these kids and they’ve told me their stories to my face, and it was very hard not to cry. Not because it was sad, but because they’re so inspiring, and so courageous."

And the ‘Bourne Legacy’ star is hoping her charity work will inspire her son.

She said: "Kids watch their parents closely. They watch everything they do – the good things and the bad things.

"So hopefully they grow up in a culture of caring about others, and it will be up to them to decide what they want to do, but hopefully it will rub off on them."

Inside the event, the couple – who were openly affectionate towards one another – were praised as "authentic" and passionate about the cause by OppNet founder Jessica Pliska.

She said: "People who know them all say the same thing and know this to be true – they’re incredibly authentic, they really care about this, and this night really meant a lot to them.

"You can’t always say that about everyone … especially two superstars. We hit the jackpot."
