Denise Welch is no longer a "people pleaser" in the bedroom.
The 59-year-old actress – who is married to Lincoln Townley and has two sons, Matt, 28, and Louis, 17, from her marriage to Tim Healy – was thrilled to see the result of a recent study that making love is better than ever for people in their 60s because she and her spouse already have a very active sex life.
She said: "I read a survey the other day that said sex is supposed to be better than ever in your 60s – and with my 60th coming up in May, I thought that was fantastic news…
"I’m not afraid to tell my partner what I want. When you’re young, you don’t want to speak out so much. I was more of a people pleaser but now I’m not.
"Plus, it helps that my husband is 15 years younger than me!"
Denise thinks one of the reasons why she enjoys sex so much now is she’s much more body confident than she used to be.
She said:" There’s this taboo that sex is for the young but I can tell you, it most definitely isn’t!
"When you’re younger there’s an awful lot of pressure on how your body should look.
"But as I’ve got older, I’ve learnt to love myself and I’ve become much more body confident.
"I’ve overhauled my lifestyle and removed all bad influences – I’ve quit alcohol, smoking and I eat a healthy diet.
"I’m a size 12 with a bit of a tummy and I haven’t got boobs and a bum like I used to.
"But I’m proud of who I am – and I’ve definitely taken that into the bedroom."
And the former ‘Loose Women’ panellist is looking forward to her sex life getting even better as she gets older.
Writing in her Closer magazine guest column, she added: "According to the survey, 66 is the optimum age for the most sexual satisfaction.
"I’ll check back in six years time and let you know if I’m still throwing him round the boudoir."
