Catherine Tate to front show about British bulldogs

Catherine Tate is to front a new television show on British bulldogs.
The 49-year-old comedienne is set to make her return to the small screen by hosting a documentary about the breed after the British Veterinary Association launched a campaign to raise awareness of the health problems that affect "squashed-faced" pooches.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It’s obviously a very different type of show to the ones we’re used to seeing Catherine in, but it’s a subject close to her heart. This will show viewers a totally different side to her."
The show will document Catherine as she looks into whether enough is being done to prevent British bulldogs – which tend to suffer with skin disorders, eye ulcers and breathing difficulties.- being born with health problems.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has tried to raise awareness of the complications of breeding as The Only Way is Essex’s Pete Wicks wants to encourage people to adopt.
He said recently: "I’ve done quite a lot of work with different charities … there are so many dogs that need homes and I think a lot of people just go out and get these dogs from top-class breeders rather than worrying about giving a dog a proper home.
"When I was younger, I loved dogs. When I was about 19, my mum got me a rescue but she dealt with all the bad bits. But it wasn’t until I got Ernest that I really realised what a responsibility having a dog would be. I didn’t really think through when I first got Ernest. It’s a lifestyle thing, you’ve got to be able to care for your dog properly and I think a lot of people just go on how their dog looks or what they think a cool dog is."
