ITV ‘axes The Nightly Show’

ITV has reportedly axed ‘The Nightly Show’ after just one series.
The broadcaster launched the late-night entertainment programme amid much fanfare in February last year, but its viewing figures quickly subsided and ITV has now decided that it will not be returning for a second series.
The programme was initially likened to American chat-shows, with the broadcaster describing it as a "high tempo mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, experts and VTs (pre-recorded items)".
But the 40-episode series – which had seven different celebrity hosts – couldn’t attract a significant audience, meaning ITV has already decided to cut its losses, The Sun newspaper reports.
In fact, the number of viewers halved in the first week of the series, which was hosted by David Walliams and they never recovered.
Another of the programmes being cut by ITV is Jason Manford’s ‘Bigheads’, in which contestants were required to compete in challenges while dressed as celebrities with oversized heads.
This comes after two of ITV’s most successful stars, Ant and Dec, revealed their interest in making a buddy movie in Hollywood.
The award-winning duo made their names on the BBC children’s series ‘Byker Grove’, and Ant recently admitted he’d love to star in a film.
The popular presenter – who co-hosts shows such as ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ and ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ on ITV – shared: "Look, we’d love to do a movie but let’s see…"
