Ellen DeGeneres brings Jimmy Kimmel to tears on TV show

Ellen DeGeneres reduced Jimmy Kimmel to tears by revealing she’s arranged to have a room in Los Angeles Children’s Hospital named after his son.
The 60-year-old TV star was joined on her show by Jimmy – who is set to present this year’s Academy Awards – and during their on-screen chat, the celebrity duo discussed some of the comedian’s emotional monologues on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’.
Jimmy, 50, has been moved to tears several times since April last year, when he revealed that his then-newborn son William ‘Billy’ Kimmel – who he has with his wife Molly McNearney – had undergone open heart surgery.
In one particularly memorable and emotional monologue, Jimmy blasted the state of the healthcare system in America.
And Ellen made the popular TV star similarly emotional on her own show by revealing that a room at the medical facility in Los Angeles was being renamed after his son.
She explained: "We are friends, and I write to you a lot saying, ‘Once again, brilliant monologue.’ You get very emotional, and I love that about you.
"Everything you’re doing on the show, you’re using your voice for good, and you’re saying a lot of important things."
Then, Ellen showed Jimmy a video of the new plaque in Billy’s honour, which was surrounded by hospital staff.
She continued: "We have a surprise for you. We called our friends at Children’s Hospital LA, including Billy’s surgeon, and we have named one of the rooms of the heart institute floor in honour of Billy. That will forever be the Billy Kimmel Room."
Ellen subsequently revealed that several of the nurses who cared for Billy were, in fact, sat among her studio audience, prompting Jimmy to joke that they "should be at work".
