Doctor Who gets new logo

‘Doctor Who’ has got a brand new logo ahead of series 11.
The forthcoming instalment of the sci-fi show has a new lead in the shape of Jodie Whittaker – who will play the first-ever female Doctor – a new writer in Chris Chibnall and a whole new line-up of companions – featuring Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill – so it’s hardly surprising that the BBC have decided to update the symbol.
BBC Worldwide Executive Creative Director Rafaela Perera said: "The ‘Doctor Who’ logo and insignia are the quintessential signifier for the brand.
"Our aim was to create modern and elegant designs that were anchored in the things that we love most about ‘Doctor Who’."
And it looks like the logo, which sees Jodie dress as the Time Lady looking at her TARDIS in the distance while the sun sets behind it, has gone down well with fans as some of them were reduced to tears when they saw the new release as they thought it was "so beautiful."
One fan – who goes by the name Time Lady – said on Twitter: "The new Doctor Who logo is beautiful. I’m crying. This new era is going to be incredible"
Jay Borges added: "I LOVE the new logo, new poster, new logo reveal! I am all squeeeed up already. #DoctorWho"
Janina said: "The new #DoctorWho logo rocks!"
While Mitchell Muella added: "Love the new logo and poster. Whittaker will be golden.#DoctorWho (sic)"
Meanwhile, it’s been rumoured that the show, which has aired in a number of different positions since its launch in 1963 but has always returned to its original Saturday teatime slot – are considering shifting it to the same time on a Sunday this year because they’re sick of having to fit it around ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
A source said: "On Saturdays everything has to fit around ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. Moving ‘Doctor Who’ to a Sunday could make perfect sense. It is a serious option."
