Joe McFadden wants to star in Benidorm

Joe McFadden wants to land a role in ‘Benidorm’.
The 42-year-old actor has been out of work since he turned his back on ‘Holby City’, in which he played Raf di Lucca, last month while he was competing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, but he’d now like to give comedy a go and has his eye on the ITV series.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: "A role on ‘Benidorm’ would be fab. It’s a great show and I am very much a fan.
"’Benidorm’ would be much easier than saying doctors’ lines and medical terms. Sitting by the pool drinking sangria would be much more preferable."
And the hunk has already worked out a role he could have – but he wants his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Katya Jones, who he won the show with, to join him on screen.
He explained: "Me and Katya could go and be the entertainers in the Solana Hotel."
But that’s not the only role Joe has his eye on as he recently admitted he’d love nothing more than to bag a part in the forthcoming big screen adaptation of ‘Downton Abbey’.
He said: "I’d love to be in ‘Downton Abbey’, I know they’re doing a ‘Downton Abbey’ movie soon. I love the costumes."
However, Joe has no desire to up sticks and move to Los Angeles for work because he believes there’s enough "great work" in the UK to keep him going for a while.
He explained: "I’m very happy to stay here. I’m not hankering after LA, we have such great work in this country, there’s no need to go there."
And, although there have been a few chats since he quit the medical drama, Joe believes he’d be best suited to a musical theatre role after his stint on the dance show.
He said recently: "I think that now people have seen me dance it would be a shame not to go ahead and do that again.
"Having just come off the biggest show on television, I want to make the right decision. And having done four years on ‘Holby’ I don’t necessarily want a long-term thing. But as an actor you never know where your next job will come along so I’ll just have to see."
