Chris Evans is reportedly set to make his TV comeback by resurrecting his 90s show ‘Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush’.
The 51-year-old radio presenter walked out on revamped ‘Top Gear’ after just a few episodes into the series because of backlash he received from fans online, but he could be about to return to screens with an updated version of his popular Channel 4 shows – which ran from 1994 to 1995 – with the new title ‘Don’t Forget Your Suitcase’.
The flame-haired broadcaster is believed to have held talks with TV bosses to relaunch the competition programme, which will see contestants arrive to the the studios with their luggage packed and ready to go in case they win a vacation.
The former ‘TFI Friday’ presenter is said to be keen for the programme to air on Fridays over an eight-week period in summer.
Chris decided to step down as Top Gear’s co-host two years ago following just one series after his hosting skills were regularly scrutinised by viewers.
Taking to his Twitter account at the time, he tweeted: "Stepping down from ‘Top Gear’. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best. (sic)"
Despite walking away from the car show, Chris said he was determined to remain on good terms with the BBC and assured fans he’d continue to work with the channel on various other projects.
He added: "Full steam ahead then with Radio 2, CarFest, Children In Need, 500 Words and whatever else we can dream up in the future. (sic)"
A spokesperson for the BBC said at the time: "I have never worked with a more committed and driven team than the team I have worked with over the last 12 months. I feel like my standing aside is the single best thing I can now do to help the cause. I remain a huge fan of the show, always have been, always will be."
