Alan Carr says The Price Is Right is ‘just what the doctor ordered’

Alan Carr thinks the return of ‘The Price Is Right’ is "just what the doctor ordered".
The 41-year-old comedian presented a one-off special of the iconic game show on Saturday (30.12.17) – which could eventually lead to a permanent comeback for the show – and Alan believes the return of the programme has come at the perfect moment in time.
He said: "It’s good old family fun and I think in the current climate a nice big helping of nostalgia to make us feel all snuggly is just what the doctor ordered."
‘The Price Is Right’ is one of the oldest and most popular game shows in TV history and Alan has attributed its success through the decades to the simplicity of the format.
Speaking to the Radio Times, the presenter explained: "It’s such a simple idea and the best game shows, I think, are the ones that are simple.
"We all like a guessing game and with Black Friday gaining momentum every year and our appetite for sniffing out the best prices of things online or in shops, it’s still an interesting idea."
Alan also admitted it feels surreal that he’s now responsible for uttering the show’s famous ‘come on down’ catchphrase.
Asked how he felt about following in the footsteps of previous hosts, such as Sir Bruce Forsyth and Leslie Crowther, Alan replied: "It was surreal.
"I remember sitting in the lounge in the 80s with my parents in Northampton watching Leslie Crowther and Brucie do it, so for me to be saying that iconic catchphrase in 2017 felt weird."
