Gary Barlow plays Resistance trooper in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Gary Barlow played a Resistance trooper in the Battle of Crait in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The Take That singer already revealed he wasn’t a stormtrooper in the latest instalment of the blockbuster sci-fi franchise, but now the director of ‘Rouge One: A Star Wars Story’, Gareth Edwards, has confirmed his cameo.
He told website Fanthatracks.com: "I got there and obviously they briefed everyone but I got there late, so they were like ‘stand there, put this on’.
"I went into this trench and I had no idea what was going on, and I looked to my right and it’s Gary Barlow.
"I think his wife or girlfriend [wife Dawn Ward] was there as well. You start looking down the line, it was a bit like ‘I’m a rebel, get me out of here.’"
The ‘Giants’ hitmaker previously joked that he was worried that he may have scuppered his chances of having the part because the makers of the franchise like to keep details strictly confidential between the actors and team.
Quizzed on his role, Gary said: "Well there is. I’m not a Stormtrooper. I am in it. Thank you. Ladies and gentlemen keep it down. Having said that I’ll probably be out.
"I think the Star Wars people are so strict about information so probably by me saying that I’ve probably done myself out of a role."
The 46-year-old star was one of the lucky celebrities to not be cut from the movie, as Ellie Goulding and Prince Harry and Prince William didn’t make it onto the big screen with their cameos.
Ellie wrote on Twitter: "Has anybody seen Star Wars yet and seen someone who resembles me in it awkward if I got cut. Haha
"Either way it was a really awesome experience. Great to be in the rebel army for a day :)"
John Boyega – who plays Resistance fighter Finn -revealed that the two British royals’ minor parts ended up on the cutting room floor.
Whilst ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star Tom Hardy didn’t make it either.
