Duchess Catherine attends Nutcracker performance

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, made an unannounced visit to the Royal Opera House on Wednesday (20.12.17) to watch ‘The Nutcracker’.
The 35-year-old royal made the trip to the iconic London theatre earlier this week to take in a special performance of the popular festive themed ballet, after having attended her grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth’s annual Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace earlier in the day.
Catherine – who has four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte with her husband Prince William – surprised fans with her appearance at the event, with many taking to social media to share their excitement at her arrival.
One fan wrote on Twitter: "Highlight of today’s nutcracker was trying to peer through a crack in the scenery to spot Kate Middleton in the crowd."
The brunette beauty – who is currently expecting her third child with her spouse – was pictured at the theatre wearing her Zara cape and the £1500 Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the Kensington Palace staff Christmas dinner last week.
It comes after Catherine and William, also 35, attended the Royal Variety Performance’ at the London Palladium earlier this week, where they were the centre of a number of comedic quips, including one from the cast of sitcom ‘Miranda’.
Patricia Hodge looked up at the royal pair with binoculars and asked the audience: "Can you believe they’ve got an iPad and they’re watching ‘The Crown’?
"It’s their version of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’."
William was even asked to gallop in the royal box by one of the young cast members of stage musical ‘Annie’, after being encouraged to put forward the comic request to the prince by host Miranda Hart.
Miranda said afterwards: "It was a great celebration of mood-lifting work.
"I did apologise to him at the end and he said he’d practice his galloping. I thought he was wonderful in joining in. I forgot to get him to knight me with a lightsaber but maybe another time."
