John Mayer leaves hospital

John Mayer is back home following his hospitalisation this week.
The 40-year-old musician was rushed to hospital in New Orleans earlier this week after suffering from acute appendicitis – which is is an inflammation of the appendix, caused by a blockage in the hollow portion of the tube – resulting in him undergoing an emergency appendectomy to remove the body part.
And now, the ‘Gravity’ singer has revealed he is home and resting following his successful operation.
Posting on Instagram, he simply wrote: "Home. See you in a bit."
John was on tour with Dead & Company – alongside Grateful Dead founders Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, along with Mickey Hart, who joined the band two years after its formation in 1967 – when he was hospitalised, causing three of the band’s dates to be postponed.
The shows, which were due to take place this week, have now be rescheduled for February.
The band posted on Twitter: "The Dead & Company concerts that were postponed due to John Mayer’s emergency appendectomy have been rescheduled for February 24th in New Orleans, February 26th in Ft. Lauderdale, and February 27th in Orlando (sic)"
John’s condition was made public knowledge in a statement released by the band this week.
They wrote at the time: "Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed. All tickets for the Dec. 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase. (sic)"
And later, a second statement was released, letting fans know the star was on the mend following his operation.
It read: "John Mayer is recovering from the emergency appendectomy he underwent yesterday and is in good spirits. The Dead & Company concerts scheduled for Dec. 7 in Orlando, Florida and Dec. 8 in Sunrise, Florida, in addition to the Dec. 5 show in New Orleans, are postponed. All tickets for these shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Information on the rescheduled concerts will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase. (sic)"
