Alice Cooper wins top honour at SSE Scottish Music Awards

Alice Cooper won Best International Artist at the 19th SSE Scottish Music Awards.
The 69-year-old shock rocker was bestowed the honour on Saturday (02.12.17) at the Nordoff Robbins Fundraiser in Glasgow, Scotland.
Accepting his award in advance when playing Glasgow’s SSE Hydro last month, Alice recorded a special video message that was played at the ceremony at the city’s Old Fruitmarket, in which he said the key to his longevity was ensuring the "quality" of his live show.
He said: "Thank you this is great. You have to survive this business long enough and rock ‘n’ roll business is not the easiest thing … We’ve been doing it 50 years and keeping the quality of the show and music up really is the whole trick to doing it. In my case though they do cut my head off every night so it’s a matter of survival! Thanks very much!"
The ceremony is held each year to raise money for music charity Nordoff Robbins Scotland. This year they raised over £148,000 for the music therapy charity.
Alice has just finished a hugely successful UK-wide tour, his first full UK Tour in five years, which included a stop at the SSE Hydro.
The shows saw Alice reunited with the original Alice Cooper band and schoolmates Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith and Michael Bruce.
The Alice Cooper band split in 1974 after which Alice went on to continued success as a solo artist.
