Despacito collects four awards at Latin GRAMMYs

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s ‘Despacito’ won the most awards at the 2017 Latin GRAMMYs.
The pair’s remix featuring Justin Bieber picked up Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Urban Fusion Performance and Short Form Music Video at the ceremony held at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Thursday night (16.11.17).
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ about his nominations before the ceremony, Luis – who was joined at the star-studded bash with his wife Agueda Lopez – said: "The Latin GRAMMYs to me are the most important music award for Latin music and to have four nominations is certainly an honour.
"To have Record of the Year and Song of the Year nominations are two huge categories, those two have a lot of weight.
"But, you can’t control whether you win or lose and all the artists that are nominated are amazing, so I’m really just truly blessed to be among a great group of artists that I admire."
Shakira – who was recently forced to axe the European leg of her ‘El Dorado World Tour’ due to a vocal haemorrhage – picked up Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album for ‘El Dorado’.
Whilst Lin-Manuel Miranda was the recipient of the President’s Merit Award for his contribution to Latin music and helping with the relief teams in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.
The American composer – the creator of the ‘Hamilton’ musical – dedicated the accolade to his wife Vanessa Nadal.
Speaking on stage, he said: "My people! Thank you, it’s an honour to be here.
"No one gets here alone.
"I know I’m a weird theatre kid here, with a weird accent.
"But let’s keep collaborating and show the world that Latinos can change the world when we collaborate."
