Meek Mill jailed for two years

Meek Mill has been sentenced to a minimum of two years in prison.
The 30-year-old rapper has been remanded in custody and will serve at least 24 months, up to 48 months, in a state prison for violating the probation from his drug and weapons case back in 2009.
Meek was arrested for a fight at St. Louis airport fight as well as for reckless driving in New York City, which broke the conditions of his probation and meant the judge had no choice but to send him straight to prison, TMZ reports.
Meek’s current legal woes come weeks after a judge threw out two misdemeanour charges, which he obtained when he got into a fight with a fan at the airport and then was accused of reckless driving in August. The ‘All Eyes on You’ hitmaker completed his community service at the Veteran’s Association in Philadelphia.
Meek was first arrested at the age of 18, when he was caught in possession of an illegal firearm. He also assaulted a police officer, which resulted in him being put on probation. Since then, he has been detained a further four times for breaking the conditions and the judge had warned that another violation would end up with imprisonment.
He was also sentenced to 11 to 23 months in prison in 2008 after he was found guilty of drug dealing and gun possession but was released less than a year later under a five-year parole agreement, which he broke in 2012 and was therefore banned from travelling.
In 2014, Meek’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced to three to six months in jail after he failed to inform the courts of his travel plans numerous times in a row. And less than a year later, he was found guilty of parole violation once again and was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest and had his probation extended for another six years.
