Steve Carell’s kids unimpressed by his career

Steve Carell’s kids are "unimpressed" that their dad is an actor.
The ‘Despicable Me 3’ star’s 16-year-old daughter Elisabeth and 13-year-old son John – whom he has with his actress and comedienne wife Nancy – have never religiously watched the 55-year-old actor’s movies and don’t think he’s that cool, because to them he’s just their "dad".
He said: "They don’t really watch anything I’ve done.
"I’m just Dad. I’m not like this actor or anything."
Steve says his teenage son has started dipping into his TV shows such as ‘Park and Recreation’ and US version of ‘The Office’, but not because their father stars in the sitcoms.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "My son just started watching ‘Parks and Rec’.
"He loves it, and it’s certainly akin to ‘The Office’.
"So he’s moving in that direction but … They’re not very impressed by me."
The ‘Crazy, Stupid Love’ star says he doesn’t want their to be a reboot of ‘The Office’ – which ran from 2005 to 2013 – because it would have to be a reunion of all of the original cast, and he says that’s unlikely to happen.
Asked if he can see a revival of the popular NBC show – in which he portrayed paper distribution company Dunder Mifflin Inc.’s Regional Manager – he said: "I kind of don’t want to do it because I love the show so much.
"I just want it to be remembered as the way people remembered it.
"People that liked the show originally would want it to come back the way it was … But that could never happen."
Meanwhile, though Steve’s children aren’t impressed with his career, the same can’t be said for his parents who have always been incredibly proud of their son, and even give out pictures of him to people they meet – whether they want them or not.
Steve revealed previously: "My family can’t believe what I do for a living and they enjoy it. I think they’re astounded. My parents called me the other day from Florida, where they live for half the year, and they said, ‘Could you send us some more headshots?’
"I think they give a signed headshot of me to anyone who asks … or anyone who doesn’t ask. They go to a doctor and they’ll say: ‘Would you like a picture of my son?’ They’re so proud and they’re really sweet and my brothers are too."
