Sophie Turner is the Girl Who Fell From The Sky

Sophie Turner will star in and produce new survival biopic ‘Girl Who Fell From The Sky’.
The 21-year-old actress – who is best known for playing Sansa Stark in HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones – will play real life plane crash survivor Juliane Koepcke in the new movie from ‘Perfect Sisters’ filmmaker Stan Brooks, Deadline reports.
Based on the book by Koepcke and Beate Rygiert, the film follows the 17-year-old sole survivor of LANSA Flight 508 which took off on December 24, 1971.
The high school senior was on the Christmas Eve flight with her mother to join her father for the festive season, when the airliner flew directly into a thunderstorm and was struck by lightning.
The aircraft broke up in mid-air and Koepcke – who will be played by Turner in the film – survived after plummeting around 10,000 feet while still strapped to her seat, before crashing through the canopy of the Peruvian rain forest which broke her fall and saved her life.
She spent 11 days in the jungle clinging to life whilst waiting and hoping to be rescued.
Brooks will be producing the movie alongside Turner and Lotus Entertainment’s co-chairman Jim Siebel, Bill Johnson and Steve Glick.
Turner is currently filming the eighth and final season of the award-winning ‘Game of Thrones’ series and will also be reprising her role as Jean Grey in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ movie.
The film will focus on the psychic hero’s alter ego Dark Phoenix. Turner first played the character in 2016’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.
‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ will be one of three ‘X-Men’ related films released in 2018 including ‘Deadpool 2’ and teen-orientated ‘The New Mutants’.
The cast will include Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee who will all reprise their roles from the last ‘X-Men’ movie.
The film is believed to take place in the 1990s and will be inspired by ‘The Dark Phoenix Saga’, the most popular X-Men story of all time, and is set to be released in November 2018.
