Demi Lovato gets career advice from Aretha Franklin

Demi Lovato got the chance to speak to her idol Aretha Franklin and get career advice from the music legend.
The ‘Cool for the Summer’ hitmaker has always been a huge fan of ‘The Queen of Soul’ and she was beyond thrilled and grateful to be able to have a telephone conversation with Aretha, 75.
However, 25-year-old Demi is staying tight-lipped on what the pair spoke about.
Speaking to the November issue of #Legend magazine – of which she is the cover star – she said: "Very random story: I got to speak to Aretha on the phone a little bit ago, which was beyond awesome. She was at home and I had the chance to talk with her for a while. Talking with someone who has made such an impact on me and my career was really special."
In the interview with the Hong Kong publication Demi also opened up about the meaning behind her hit single ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, insisting rather than it being about a break-up it’s about her battle against bullies when she was at school.
Because of the personal nature of the song, Demi is even more proud of the fact it did so well in charts all over the world.
She explained: "’Sorry Not Sorry’ comes from a really different place for me. When I released it, a lot of people thought the song was about a relationship or a break-up. It isn’t. When I was younger, I was bullied. This song comes out of the work I’ve done to rise above what was done to me and succeed no matter how I was treated."
The November 2017 issue of #Legend is available at newsstands and bookstores across Hong Kong now, whilst hashtaglegend.com has extra content and news.
