Jay Kay confirms he’s married

Jay Kay has confirmed he is married.
The Jamiroquai frontman let slip he has tied the knot to his significant other, Maria, after 10 years together during an acceptance speech for his BMI President’s Award at the BMI London Awards at The Dorchester Hotel on Monday night (09.10.17).
An insider told MailOnline: "Jay Kay did a shout to his wife and two daughters when he was on the stage collecting his award.
"The audience seemed a bit surprised because he wasn’t wearing a wedding ring on his left hand and I don’t think anyone even knew he was off the market."
Jay was awarded the accolade – previously won by the likes of Kenny Chesney, Pink, Willie Nelson, Adam Levine, and Toni Braxton – because of his "originality, which has inspired generations of musicians and fans alike".
Upon collecting the prize, he said: "I’m very happy to receive this award tonight, it’s been 30 years since I began a career in music, and I’m lucky to still be able to do my thing and express it through songs.
"There’s still no better buzz really, than starting off with that ‘thing’ in your head and letting it get to the stage where you hear it on the radio, in front of loads of people, all over the world, it’s a real privilege."
Jay was previously engaged to British actress Denise van Outen, who he started dating in 1998, but the pair split in 2001.
In 2010, Jay admitted he once had a cocaine habit which may have affected his relationship with Denise, but one of the main downfalls of the romance was that he didn’t like always being asked when the pair were going to marry.
When asked if his drug habit had an impact on the demise of the former couple’s relationship, he replied: "Well, you know. It may well have had an impact. She’s a lovely girl. What might have had an impact was I just didn’t like the whole pushing thing, ‘Are we gonna get married? Let’s do this or that magazine cover.’ "
