Brendan Cole feuds with Shirley Ballas on Strictly Come Dancing

Brendan Cole caused tension on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Saturday (07.10.17) when he disputed head judge Shirley Ballas’ comments toward his dance.
The professional dancer took to the dance floor with ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Charlotte Hawkins to perform a Tango inspired by ‘Top Gun’ as part of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition’s movie week.
And despite giving what he believed was a solid performance, he was shocked to find that head judge Shirley Ballas disagreed.
When the 57-year-old Queen of Latin told the duo there shouldn’t be any rise and fall in the Tango, Brendan was quick to step in and tell her she was mistaken, as he was adamant her comments were false.
She said: "She needs to stand on her own feet and we’ve established that there’s no rise and fall in Tango. So we’ve got to make a concrete decision not to use rise and fall. So no rise and fall."
And Brendan argued: "There was no rise and fall in that whatsoever."
Shirley then said: "Well, there is, Brendan. You should play it back and see."
Brendan fired back: "I will my dear, I will. There was no rise and fall."
Fellow judge Bruno Tonioli then stepped in to agree with Shirley, and told Brendan, 41, he should have more "respect" for the judging panel.
Bruno said: "I’m not an expert, I’ve only done about 500 shows but I think Shirley’s right, you should be more respectful."
Charlotte, 42, and Brendan scored a total of 17 for their Tango, which was significantly better than their salsa from last week’s show, which was riddled with mistakes and scored them just 12 points.
Elsewhere in the show, former JLS singer Aston Merrygold and his partner Janet Manrara topped the leaderboard with 35 points for their ‘Trolls’ inspired Cha Cha, followed closely by fellow singer Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez, whose American Smooth based on ‘My Fair Lady’ scored 33.
At the other end of the table, Reverend Richard Coles found himself at the bottom with just 14 points for his ‘Flash Gordon’ themed Pasodoble.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues with the results show on Sunday (08.10.17), where two couples will battle it out in the dance off.
