Nadiya Hussain opens up about her panic disorder

Nadiya Hussain says her panic disorder is like "living with a monster".
The 32-year-old TV star – who is best known for winning the sixth series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ – has opened up about her condition in a new interview with comedian John Bishop, saying she struggles on a day-to-day basis.
Speaking on ‘In Conversation With’, Nadiya explained: "My whole life revolves around not falling apart."
Nadiya likened her troubles to fighting a real-life monster.
She shared: "I describe it as a monster. Some days the monster shouts in my face, no matter where I turn he will keep shouting at me, I can’t get him out of my face.
"Other days he’s behind me and he’ll tap me on the shoulder a little bit here and there through the day and I can ignore him completely.
"Other days I can put him in my pocket. He’s always there."
Nadiya has turned to medical experts in a bid to tackle her problem.
But the TV star has refused the medication she’s been offered because she fears she wouldn’t be able to "feel anything".
Meanwhile, Nadiya is set to host the ‘Bake Off’ rival ‘The Big Family Cooking Showdown’ on BBC One with Zoe Ball.
And Nadiya has promised to act as a supportive influence for the 16 families taking part in the show.
She said: "Having been through a food competition as an amateur cook myself, I know exactly how tough it can get and so I’ll be there for them, alongside Zoe, as the pressure really builds!"
