Ryan Thomas didn’t eat for 8 days

Ryan Thomas didn’t eat for eight days while doing ‘Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ hunk has admitted he lost two stone (28lbs) while trying to survive on a remote island with a bunch of other stars because they barely had any food to keep them going and had to use their energy wisely.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Tuesday (05.09.17), he said: "We looked like old men and women walking around. You had to make sure you used whatever energy you had at the right time. It was such a struggle from start to finish.
"At first, we didn’t have food, we ran out of water and the storms were relentless because you never knew when they would finish. You had to learn how to adapt very quickly and you had to realise how to survive without food for a long period time."
But, luckily for Ryan, the 33-year-old actor had his now-girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh, 26, to keep him in the right frame of mind and the pair got on so well during the challenge that they decided to give their relationship a go when they left the island.
He explained: "It was amazing to have Lucy there with me. We are of a similar age and she was a companion. It’s nice having someone to look out for you. It was a real pleasure to have her there for me."
And, although on reflection he thoroughly enjoyed doing the series, Ryan has no intention of taking part in any other reality TV shows.
He said: "I love watching those other shows but for me, this is the only programme that has approached me asking if I was interested. And ‘Celebrity Island’ is the only show I wanted to do because it doesn’t have a winner. People don’t change who they are just so they can win. It’s more about learning; you’re learning how to survive. And I love Bear Grylls. To put my name to anything he’s in is just amazing."
