Prince William set to visit RAF Coningsby

Prince William is visiting RAF Coningsby today (11.07.17) for the 60th anniversary of the Battle of British Memorial Flight.
The 35-year-old royal is poised to meet World War Two veterans who worked on and flew planes during the Battle, which is an aerial display group that usually features aircrafts like Supermarine Spitfires and Hawker Hurricanes.
Prince William is already familiar with RAF Coningsby, as he spent time there during his training days, while he is also an Honorary Air Commandant of the air station.
What’s more, he is known to be interested in the Battle of British Memorial Flight’s aircraft.
Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this year that an air ambulance regularly flown by Prince William was nearly involved in a mid-air collision in August 2016.
A report said that the Eurocopter 145, used by the East Anglian Air Ambulance, was involved in a near-miss with a drone, with UK Airprox Board investigators admitting the accident was only avoided because of good fortune.
There had been "high risk" of a crash, according to the report, which noted that the dramatic incident took place 1,900ft above London.
Prince William was not onboard the aircraft at the time of the near-miss, although the East Anglian Air Ambulance has confirmed the vehicle was flown repeatedly by the royal during his tenure with the service.
The drone, which was flying above its permitted altitude, passed within 98ft of the helicopter.
