Prince Harry is determined to keep his star performer for the Invictus Games in tip-top condition.
The 32-year-old royal has been visiting the venues for the 2018 event in Sydney this week and during his trip, Prince Harry jokingly revealed he plans to keep his top competitor David Wiseman focused by telling him that his rivals think he’s unbeatable.
Of the British star, David Neagle, a former Australian Defence Force officer, said: "He’s just a phenomenal athlete, I remember seeing him walking out to the pool and thinking, ‘has he competed in the Commonwealth Games?’ He’s just huge and he swam like nothing else.
"Somebody made a bit of a crack that we’ve still got a bit of work to do to catch Dave Wiseman and Harry said: ‘I’m not going to tell him that, we need to keep him training’."
Prince Harry has previously spoken about the Paralympic-style event’s capacity to inspire people around the world.
Looking forward to the sporting event for injured military veterans, the royal said: "The Invictus Games are empowering and inspire all of us as competitors to be the best version of ourselves. It allows us to be judged on what we can achieve, rather than what we can’t.
"To simply be selected for the UK team was an amazing achievement. To then be further selected as the UK team captain filled me with such immense pride and it is a huge privilege to be given this honour. I definitely stood taller and my chest expanded quite a bit."
