Roy Chubby Brown to star in Benidorm

Roy Chubby Brown is set to make a cameo in ‘Benidorm’.
The 72-year-old actor, who is dubbed one of the most offensive comedians in the UK, will be joining the cast in the next series of the ITV show as a character rather than himself and he hopes this will get him back in to mainstream TV.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Roy is really keen to get back into acting and thinks a role on ‘Benidorm’ will get him back into mainstream telly. He obviously doesn’t take himself very seriously and neither does the show so it was seen as a good fit."
This isn’t the first time Roy has taken on TV roles as in 2000 the comedian played Mayor Larry Vaughan in the BBC2 series ‘The League of Gentlemen’.
Roy isn’t the only well-known star to make a cameo on the show with comedy duo Hale and Pace and The Chuckle Brothers also spotted to be joining the show this year.
The Chuckle Brothers – Barry, 72, and Paul Elliott, 69 – were seen in March this year sat opposite each other at a table while camera men surrounded them.
However their roles haven’t been revealed and it’s unclear whether it is just a cameo or a permanent fixture on the show.
‘Benidorm’ is written by Derren Litten and produced by Tiger Aspect and features an ensemble cast of holiday makers in an hotel in the holiday-resort.
The show first aired in 2007 to critical acclaim and has won a number of awards including two National Television Awards and has has become ITVs most successful sitcom.
The tenth series of the show began filming in March this year and is set for a 2018 release with Roy joining the cast.
