Prince Charles donates to Manchester Fund

Prince Charles has reportedly donated an undisclosed amount to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund in the wake of the terror attack which killed 22 people and injured more than 50 others after an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena earlier this week.
The 68-year-old royal is believed to have made a donation to the fund – which was set up by the British Red Cross charity – shortly before he made an appearance at the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Champions Trophy tournament in London on Thursday (25.05.17), where he was invited to help launch the event.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the amount donated by the Prince was not specified, but was confirmed to the publication by a Clarence House spokeswoman.
Colin Graves, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) which is hosting the tournament, took a moment before the launch of the event to "pay respects" to those involved in the tragedy, and mentioned how Manchester United’s Europa League final win on Wednesday (24.05.17) had managed to unite the nation.
He said: "Firstly I’d like to pay respects on behalf of myself and the ECB to those affected by the tragic events in Manchester on Monday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families and the friends.
"We saw last night how sport can unite a city, a community and a nation – even in the wake of the most tragic events – which makes me immensely proud of this country and our resilience.
"I know the ICC Champions Trophy and Women’s World Cup will unite fans from all over the world this summer and celebrate the diversity we are all so privileged to have in this country, through cricket the game we all love."
Meanwhile, Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla released a statement earlier this week expressing their condolences for those involved in the terror attack.
It read: ‘My wife and I were so profoundly shocked to learn of the truly dreadful event which took place in Manchester last night.
"That such a large number of people, including so many young concert-goers, lost their lives or have suffered so much in this appalling atrocity is deeply distressing and fills us with intense sadness.
"Words cannot adequately express what so many families must be feeling at this incredibly difficult time and our most heartfelt sympathy is with all those who have so tragically lost loved ones or who have been affected in some way."
