Lucy Mecklenburgh signs up for The Island with Bear Grylls

Lucy Mecklenburgh has signed up for the new series of ‘The Island with Bear Grylls’.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ babe – who has previously done ‘Tour de Celeb’ –
will be joining nine other celebrities on the remote island later this year – all for charity.
A source told The Sun Online: "Lucy can’t wait to get involved with all the survival tasks.
"She’s a bit of a tomboy at heart and is looking forward to showing the nation what she can really do."
The series sees Bear – a well-known adventurer – drop groups of men and women on desert islands in the Pacific to test their survival skills and endurance.
In 2015, the Channel 4 show caused a lot of controversy after ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Ollie Locke murdered an endangered crocodile by stabbing it through the head.
The large reptile was protected under the Endangered Species Act meaning it was forbidden from being killed, poached or harassed.
A Channel 4 spokesperson said at the time: "This was a genuine and regrettable error. Prior to filming, experts were consulted to ascertain species on both islands and the American crocodile was not known to be in the area or on the island.
"The relevant national environment agency are away of the incident and have granted a licence to replace the animal which has now been done."
Lucy, 25, is the first to be named to go on the show and others are expected to be announced over the upcoming weeks.
Although this show, which is for cancer, will have celebrities taking part the social-experiment show will also be broadcast featuring non-celebrities surviving the wilderness.
‘The Island with Bear Grylls’ is expected to be broadcast on Channel 4 in October and will raise money for StandUpToCancer.
