Ludacris to front new series of Fear Factor

Ludacris is set to front a new series of ‘Fear Factor’.
The ‘Get Back’ hitmaker will host the revival of the much-loved show, which will see contestants perform a number of terrifying stunts, as well as executive produce.
He said: "I am excited to kick off my partnership with MTV, starting with the relaunch of ‘Fear Factor’ which will be even more insane and ludicrous than what you remember. This will be the first of many great projects together!"
MTV have ordered 12 one-hour episodes, premiering on the channel on Tuesday, May 30 at 10 pm.
Chris McCarthy, president, MTV, VH1 and Logo, added: "MTV is about celebrating youth culture, and with the reinvented ‘Fear Factor,’ we are putting the power in our audience’s hands to face and overcome their biggest fears.
"We are thrilled to partner with Ludacris, one of the biggest global stars who has a rich history with MTV, to energize this franchise for a whole new generation."
The show – which previously ran for seven seasons on NBC, fronted by Joe Rogan – was plagued with its own share of controversy for some of the gruesome trials the contestants had to endure but McCarthy insists the new series will be "testing physical, mental and emotional strength".
He added to The Hollywood Reporter: "Fear Factor is one of the iconic franchises that people still talk about, and it continues to resonate within culture. With so much change in the world, young people have a rising sense of anxiety. Our reinvented Fear Factor was designed to directly tackle this, and empower the audience to face their fears head on and overcome them in a fun, spirited way …
"We are updating the challenges that will include fresh physical stunts and mental challenges, relevant to today’s culture. Each episode will provide contestants the platform to test their physical, emotional and mental strength, as well as the opportunity to overcome their biggest fears. No two episodes will be alike. We’re not about grossing out for gross out sake. This is an adrenaline-filled show that is about testing physical, mental and emotional strength, as well as the ability to overcome our biggest fears."
