Carey Mulligan returns to BBC for thriller series

Carey Mulligan is returning to TV in a new BBC thriller.
‘The Great Gatsby’ actress is to star in four-part thriller, Collateral’, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Sir David Hare, who is delighted with the casting list.
Sir David, 69, said: "I’ve been writing drama for the BBC since 1973 but this is my first original series.
"I’m thrilled it has such a stunningly gifted cast."
Carey last starred on the BBC in 2005’s ‘Bleak House’, a screen-adaption of the 1853 Charles Dickens novel of the same name.
The 31-year-old beauty – who has two-year-old daughter Evelyn Grace Mumford with her Mumford & Sons rocker husband Marcus Mumford – will be joined by John Simm, Nicola Walker and Billie Piper in the new series.
The thriller follows Carey’s character Detective Inspector Kip Glaspie who investigates the death of a pizza delivery man.
The BAFTA-winning actress has already worked with Sir David on the 2014 revival play ‘Skylight’ opposite Bill Nighy, for which she received a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress.
Director SJ Clarkson, who directed ‘Love Nina’ and ‘Toast’, is taking charge of the production which started filming in London on Tuesday (04.04.17).
Piers Wenger, controller of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, director of BBC content, commissioned the series co-produced by The Forge and Netflix.
Piers said "’Collateral’ is a highly imaginative, thought-provoking and utterly contemporary state of the nation thriller written by Britain’s foremost political dramatist.
"It is a great honour to welcome Sir David Hare back to the BBC and to be working with both he and ‘The Forge’ on this outstanding piece of original work."
