Russell Brand set to make his return to live radio

Russell Brand is to make his return to live radio on Sunday (02.04.17).
The larger-than-life star is set to host a comedy slot on Radio X from 11am to 1pm and Russell is excited to be ending his eight-year hiatus from live broadcasting.
He said: "I’m going to be on Radio X – the show will be about joy, unity and togetherness. Sorry for any offence in advance."
Russell’s new radio venture will see the 41-year-old star return to his comedy roots and the show – which is also being turned into a podcast – will feature a host of special guests.
Matt Deverson, Radio X Managing Editor, said: "Radio X is home to big personalities and we’re incredibly excited to be welcoming Russell back for his live radio return.
"He’s a huge talent and his Sunday morning show is going to become a must-listen for fans of his irreverent humour."
Russell is no stranger to radio presenting, having previously hosted programmes on XFM, the BBC and talkSPORT.
The comedian made his debut on the airwaves with XFM in 2002, hosting the station’s Sunday afternoon show with Matt Morgan.
Russell subsequently made the switch to BBC Radio 6 Music in 2006, when he started hosting ‘The Russell Brand’ show with Matt and fellow funnyman Trevor Lock.
The show, which featured a different comedic theme each week, was transferred to BBC Radio 2 later the same year and was, for three months, recorded in the glamorous surrounds of Hawaii while Russell filmed ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’.
In 2009, Russell indulged his love of soccer by presenting a two-hour programme each week on talkSPORT alongside rock star Noel Gallagher.
However, some of their content was considered to be too X-rated for the airwaves and was, therefore, made available online as an uncut version.
Thereafter, Russell presented a one-off live charity show on XFM in 2013 before he joined the station on a permanent basis two years later, hosting a one-hour programme on Sunday evenings.
