Doctor Dolittle handed May 2019 release date

Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Doctor Dolittle’ is scheduled to hit cinema screens in May 2019.
The 51-year-old Hollywood star – who is, perhaps, most synonymous with Iron Man – recently signed on the play the iconic Doctor John Dolittle in a new movie and Universal has now announced the film is slated for release on May 24, 2019.
The exciting new project is a retelling of Hugh Lofting’s tale of a man who is able to speak with animals, and Universal has already confirmed that the as-yet-untitled movie is being directed by Oscar-winner Stephen Gaghan.
The role of Doctor Dolittle has previously been played by comedian and actor Eddie Murphy, who starred in two movies in 1998 and 2001.
Prior to that, Rex Harrison starred as the Doctor in a 1967 movie which also featured Richard Attenborough.
But before Downey Jr. appears in the new ‘Doctor Dolittle’ movie, the Hollywood icon will be reprising the role of Iron Man in the hotly-anticipated ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, which is due out in July.
Downey Jr. is also slated to appear as Iron Man in two more ‘Avengers’ films over the next couple of years.
But there are doubts about whether he will ever make another standalone ‘Iron Man’ movie, having previously insisted that there is no concrete agreement in place between himself and Marvel.
Asked about the prospect of making ‘Iron Man 4’, Downey Jr. previously said: "There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man’."
Downey Jr. first played Iron Man back in 2007 and his role has been central to the spectacular success of the Marvel movies over the last decade.
