Prince George’s nanny avoided tax payments

Prince George’s nanny has been "named and shamed" for allegedly failing to pay council tax in Spain.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hired Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, 43, to look after their eight-month-old son, but it appears the childminder hasn’t got a great reputation in her homeland.

The carer was reportedly threatened with a visit from debt collectors and a fine with interest added on unless she paid what she owed in full.

Although she settled her debt, known as IBI – the UK equivalent of council tax – her name still appears on the online register after failing to pay two years’ worth of payment in 2007 and 2008.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She’s resolved the situation and owes no money to the council now.

"But it’s a major source of embarrassment to her that her name is still on a public debtors’ list which is just a click of a mouse away.

"Maria Teresa might like to see it removed from the public arena but there’s absolutely nothing she can do about it."

Meanwhile, Maria trained at the prestigious Norland College in Bath, which teaches nannies how to care for children during an intensive full-time three-year degree course, costing a total of £36,000.

The royal couple recruited the new child minder to look after George after his former nanny Jessie Webb, 71, who previously looked after William when he was a child, gave her notice in last month.
