Birds of a Feather to get festive special?

‘Birds of a Feather’ may return for another festive special this year.
The last Christmas episode of the popular sitcom, which was shot in Malta, proved such a huge hit with viewers that bosses are in talks to do another installment, but they are in the process of "sorting out dates" so that Linda Robson, Pauline Quirke and Lesley Joseph – who play Tracey Stubbs, Sharon Theodopolopodous and Doreen Green in the show respectively – can free up their diaries to shoot the scenes.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (01.03.17), Linda said: "Yes, there are talks (to do another series) actually. There are talks of a Christmas special because the last Christmas special did so well. We were so proud of it – it was like a ‘Birds of a Feather’ film that we never got to make. So we went to Malta to film it and everything but yes, there are talks. They’re just sorting out dates and all of that."
However, there could be more exciting things in the pipeline for ‘Birds of a Feather’, which first aired in 1989 and was revived 15 years later in 2014, as bosses have mentioned that they’d like to have a crossover series with ‘Benidorm’.
Speaking previously, Lesley said: "We’re waiting to hear what we’re going to do. We’re not sure at the moment but ITV have loved it and we’re all waiting to hear if we’re doing another series or a special. I want to go abroad. Linda Robson is queen of the tweets and somebody tweeted her, ‘Why don’t we do ‘Birds’ meets ‘Benidorm’?’ Can you actually imagine ‘Birds of a Feather’ go to Benidorm? It would just be a match made in heaven."
