MTV EMAs 2017 to be held in London

The 2017 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) will be held in London.
The annual glitzy award show – which was last held in London 21 years ago in 1996 – will return to the English capital in November at The SSE Arena, Wembley, to celebrate the year’s musical highlights with some of the world’s biggest artists.
David Lynn, CEO of Viacom International Media Networks, said in a statement: "London is arguably the world’s musical epicentre and it’s both a huge privilege and opportunity to bring the MTV EMAS 2017 to the UK’s capital city.
"The EMA creates an incredible buzz wherever it lands it; that will be amplified tenfold in London."
The event – which was held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, last year – hopes to be "bigger and louder" than in years past, with show bosses hoping to put on a "killer" show.
EMAs executive producer Bruce Gillmer added: "The MTV EMAs are one of the biggest and most unforgettable nights in music globally. We anticipate this year’s event in London will be even bigger and louder than ever before.
"The city’s incredible musical heritage along with the local fan’s robust energy will undoubtedly make this one killer show."
This year will mark the sixth time the awards have been held in a British city, with Edinburgh, Liverpool, Belfast, and Glasgow having previously hosted the ceremony.
Last year, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Twenty One Pilots came away from the awards as the biggest winners, having secured two gongs each.
The 22-year-old singer – who racked up five nominations – walked away with the trophy for Best Song for his hit ‘Sorry’ and the Biggest Fans category for his loyal supporters, Beliebers.
Gaga – who’s known for her eccentric style – was equally successful with the award for Best Look and Best Female, while the ‘Heathens’ hitmakers, comprised of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, swiped Best Alternative Act and Best Live Artist.
The MTV EMAs will take place on November 12, 2017.
