Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla attend British Asian Trust dinner

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have attended a dinner for supporters of the British Asian Trust.
The 68-year-old royal and his wife, 69, stepped out onto the red carpet on Thursday (02.01.17) as they joined 450 guests at a reception in central London in support of the charity which aims to transform lives by investing in making an impact on poverty in South Asia and the UK.
The royal couple were joined by host of famous faces from the worlds of entertainment, politics, business, and sport, including actor Hugh Bonneville, DJ Naughty Boy – real name Shahid Khan – and entrepreneur Michelle Mone.
The British Asian Trust was set up in 2007 by Prince Charles, alongside Asian business leaders, to take action against widespread poverty and hardship in South Asia.
The organisation has since helped develop programmes in education, mental health, and anti-trafficking, making a difference to the lives of more than three million people in places such as Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India.
As the president of the organisation, Prince Charles – who is the father of Prince William, 34, and Prince Harry, 32 – gave a speech to the guests at the event, which was hosted by BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Asian Network presenter Nihal Arthanayake.
For Duchess Camilla, the charitable outing comes as part of a busy week as she was named the Royal Patron of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home on Wednesday (01.02.17).
A series of posts on Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’ official Twitter account read: "We were thrilled to welcome The Duchess of Cornwall to our Old Windsor centre today as she was announced as our new Royal Patron …
"Her Royal Highness is already part of our #Battersea family having rehomed two Jack Russell Terriers Beth and Bluebell from the Home … We look forward to forging an even closer connection with our new Royal Patron over the coming years."
