James Martin finally feels "happy" for the first time in his life.
The 44-year-old celebrity chef has always tried to keep his love life close to his chest but he couldn’t keep a lid on his emotions on Wednesday (01.02.17) when he was pressed in a television interview about the secret relationship he’s been in for five years.
While appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’ this morning, host Piers Morgan teased: "This is a worrying allegation you’re in love at the moment."
To which James joked: "Is there? I’m happy. I’m happy."
He then added with a beaming smile: "For the first time in my life I’m happy and content."
James began dating a personal assistant called Louise back in 2011 but, although the pair have been living together, he refused to divulge any details about their relationship because he wanted to keep his private life out of the public eye since his split from Barbara Broccoli.
A source said at the time: "James desperately wants to keep his private life out of the spotlight and under wraps following his romance with Barbara. It’s easy to do with Louise as she likes things low-key as well, unlike Barbara who loved making a fuss over him."
James and Barbara – who is 12 years older than him – called time on their relationship in 2005 following four years together due to their conflicting schedules and dominating careers.
However, his relationship with Louise couldn’t be more perfect as they balance each other out nicely and she thoroughly enjoys tagging along when he’s on work projects.
An insider explained: "Louise goes absolutely everywhere with him – they just don’t make a big song and dance about it.
"She knows all his friends really well and regularly visited him on ‘The Saturday Kitchen’ set and was on set for his ASDA commercials – so all his colleagues get on great with her too. She’s particularly good friends with his best mate Chris Evan’s wife Natasha."
