Ed Sheeran is trying to tackle ticket touts

Ed Sheeran’s record label is trying to combat touts seeking to make money off his upcoming UK tour.
The 25-year-old star recently returned to the spotlight after an extended hiatus and tickets for his hotly-anticipated tour are expected to sell out within minutes of going on sale on Thursday (02.02.17) – but Atlantic Records is doing all it can to tackle the touts.
A spokesperson said: "We are vehemently opposed to the unethical practices in the secondary market.
"We have written to each of our partners, be they promoters, venues or ticketing companies, detailing the way in which we expect tickets to be sold: Direct to fans."
Although online reselling is legal in the UK, it can lead fans to pay well above the face value of a ticket to see a gig.
The scenario has already led Adele to announce a zero tolerance policy against the situation – and Ed has now followed suit.
His spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: "We’ve also partnered with Twickets, a site which allows fans to swap tickets at face value or less. We are pushing them as the official resale partner and a safe place to swap tickets.
"We urge all fans not to engage with other sites to avoid being ripped off with higher prices or counterfeit tickets."
Meanwhile, it was recently suggested the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker wants his close friend James Blunt to join him for some of his tour dates in the US.
A source said: "Ed and James have a real laugh together, it’ll be proper madness on tour. James has a good following in the US so he’ll also play some gigs too, acting as a support for his mate.
"When you spend so much time on the road it’s always handy to be in good company, and James certainly fits into that category."
