Prince William and Duchess Catherine to attend children’s mental heath event

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, will attend Place2Be’s ‘The Big Assembly’ in aid of Children’s Mental Health Week.
The 35-year-old Duchess is the patron of children’s charity Place2Be, a national charity which aims to provide emotional support to children in schools, and will be in attendance for the event alongside her husband Prince William, 34.
‘The Big Assembly’ will take place at Mitchell Brook Primary School during Children’s Mental Health Week – which runs from February 6 to February 12 – and will consist of a number of activities centred around the running theme of kindness.
A statement about the event on the charity’s website reads: "This Children’s Mental Health Week (6 – 12 February), we are encouraging schools across the UK to share our call to spread a little kindness with their pupils, families and staff.
"For the first time ever, this year we will give all schools the exciting opportunity to be part of a special Assembly attended by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
"Taking place on Monday 6th February, The Big Assembly will last approximately 30 minutes, and will include: Role plays by children around the theme of kindness, a choir performance, and a presentation of a ‘Kindness Cup’ to one pupil who has demonstrated exceptional kindness in their school community."
Place2Be has also teamed up with mental health charity Heads Together – which was set up by Duchess Catherine, Prince William, and 32-year-old Prince Harry – which has been named as the charity of the year for 2017 London Marathon.
Heads Together wrote on their website: "Being the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year is the perfect springboard for the Heads Together campaign.
"We cannot wait to see hundreds of runners hitting the streets of London in April to end the stigma and change the conversation on mental health once and for all."
Children’s Mental Health Week runs from February 6 to February 12, and ‘The Big Assembly’ will take place on February 6.
