Queen Elizabeth’s 60-year-old wedding cake up for auction

Queen Elizabeth’s 60-year-old wedding cake is set to go on auction.
The 90-year-old royal – who married the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, in 1947 – is due to have the tasty treat from her marital ceremony, which is unopened and still boxed, on sale, and according to BBC News the sweet is expected to sell for £200 to £300.
Alongside the monarch’s cake, photos, Christmas cards and handwritten letters will also be put up for grabs.
The notes, which also include cards from the late Princess Diana – who tragically died in Paris, France, in 1997 aged 36 years old – will make up around 40 lots and each one is predicted to retail for anything from £80 to £900.
A representative from Cheffins, the auction house in Cambridgeshire, has described the royal’s memorabilia as a "unique collection".
They said: "[The letters are] a unique collection of Royal memorabilia".
In one of the letters Cyril kept Diana talked about her children’s behaviour and how Prince Harry, 32, was "constantly in trouble at school", whilst another details how her family felt following the birth of her youngest child.
The products are to be sold by the family of the late Cyril Dickman, who worked at Buckingham Palace where he was the head palace steward for over three decades.
And Cyril has been described as a "favourite" person of the Royal Family.
A Cheffins spokesperson said: "[Cyril’s] a favourite of every member of the Royal Family".
