Little Mix’s empowering song

Little Mix wanted to "empower women" with ‘Shout Out To My Ex’.
Perrie Edwards – who was previously engaged to Zayn Malik – says the girl group didn’t want their break-up song to be an emotional ballad and instead decided to keep it upbeat.
She told E! News: "When people go through break ups, you automatically want to hear really sad songs. You want to listen to [Toni Braxton’s] ‘Un-Break My Heart’ and have a little cry, get a tub of ice cream out."
"We just thought, ‘You know what? Women need to feel empowered.’ Everybody needs to feel empowered after a break up and we feel like this song can relate to everyone because everybody’s had an ex."
Perrie also admitted the pressures of fame can be tough on her but she feels "lucky" to have her Little Mix bandmates – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall – by her side through everything.
She said: "I think you have to learn to have a thick skin. I think it comes with being in a girl band and being an artist. People want to know what you’re doing and what you’re up to, which is fine with us … We have each other luckily, so we experience everything together and we’ve always got each other’s backs."
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old singer recently admitted she really feels the "pressure" of being a role model to young girls.
She explained: "I think being named role models kind of happened just naturally, we never really asked for it. Which is lovely, I love the fact that girls look up to us and we empower people and inspire them. But obviously, we’re young girls and we’re going to do silly things sometimes that can kind of put pressure on us, but we’re just being ourselves."
