Simon Cowell signs 5 After Midnight

Simon Cowell has signed 5 After Midnight to his record label.
The 56-year-old music mogul was devastated when the trio were given the boot from ‘The X Factor’ semi-final – placing third – two weeks ago but it seems he doesn’t want them to slip through his fingers and be snapped up by a rival as he’s dished them out a deal through Syco Records in the hope they’ll become an international success.
A source told The Daily Star newspaper: "The boys are overjoyed and can’t believe they are signing to Syco. Simon has been a big fan of 5AM throughout the series. Out of all the artists he thinks 5AM have the biggest gap in the market. There are very few boybands around at the moment and even fewer urban boybands who dance."
Simon clearly saw a chance for history to repeat itself as his record company also signed One Direction – who became one of the biggest boy bands in the world but are now on a hiatus – after they placed third in the same singing competition in 2010.
5 After Midnight – comprised of Kieran Alleyne, Nathan Lewis and Jordan Lee – aren’t the only act from this year’s series to receive a deal through Syco Records as controversial wannabe rapper Honey G has also been offered a one-track contract.
She said recently: "I am ecstatic to announce I have been Signed by Syco, Simon Cowell’s record label and will be releasing my first single on 23rd December."
But it seems Honey G – whose real name is Anna Gilford – isn’t planning to stop at just one song as she’s hoping to become a worldwide success like One Direction.
She explained: "I’m looking to come in at the level that One Direction came in at. I know that I can create that hype. I just need the opportunity to be able to sell the records, get the right PR behind me, get the right team behind me that’s really going to blow me up."
