Duchess Camilla praises Woman’s Hour

Duchess Camilla has praised Radio 4’s ‘Woman’s Hour’ for being the "soundtrack" to her life.
The 69-year-old duchess gave a speech at a Buckingham Palace event marking the 70th anniversary of the radio show, which aims to offer a "female perspective on the world", and hailed it as a "living social history".
She said: "Like so many of us, I grew up with ‘Woman’s Hour’ – it was part of the soundtrack to my life.
"It is a living social history charting the changing attitudes to women as well as the changing attitudes of women themselves.
"It is a huge pleasure to acknowledge this magnificent milestone."
Camilla – who is married to Prince Charles – went on to say the origins of the programme as being a show for housewives have been "left far behind".
She added: "So it’s not surprising that the number of listeners is higher than ever and that its audience is made up of both women and men."
Camilla mingled with a number of guests, including Baroness Karren Brady, model Twiggy, outspoken feminist Germaine Greer, and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Darcey Bussell.
Earlier this week, Camilla and Charles unveiled their official Christmas card.
Clarence House gave royal fans a sneak peak at the couple’s seasonal greeting, which features the pair on the front, on its official Twitter account.
The royals – who got married in 2005 – have seemingly put a lot of thought into their festive mini poster this year as they’ve picked out a special photograph of them during their Spring tour to the Western Balkans and Croatia.
The sweet shot, which sees them surrounded by the locals in their traditional national costumes while at the Cultural Heritage Festival in Osijek, Croatia, where the group performed a dance, was surrounded by a red border.
The message reads: "Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year."
