Phillip Schofield was ‘nervous’ about meeting Prince Philip

Phillip Schofield was "nervous" about meeting Prince Philip.
The 54-year-old television presenter worked closely with the 95-year-old royal as part of an upcoming show called ’60 Years of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award’, which is based on Philip’s youth awards programme, and has admitted he was worried about what to say when he first met the Queen’s husband.
Speaking about the first thing he uttered to Philip when the pair began shooting the programme, which will celebrate the organisation’s diamond anniversary this year, the silverfox said: "’Hello Sir’ or ‘Sir’ was the first thing I said. I was nervous."
And ITV’s ‘This Morning’ co-host has revealed the fact Philip doesn’t give interviews made him even more anxious about following him around for a year as part of the show.
He explained: "If you’re going to spend a year with someone, and this is a series of moments – I want to manage expectations here – he doesn’t give interviews here it is a series of moments throughout the year, and it’s principally about these extraordinary awards he started , they are his awards."
Despite his nerves, Phillip claims he got on "really well" with Philip.
He said: "I did, I got on really well with him."
And Phillip has revealed he couldn’t cope with the duties Philip his to complete, and has admitted after one day of meeting and greeting Phillip was in agony, whilst the royal – who is 41 years his senior – showed no signs of floundering.
Speaking on ‘The One Show’ on Thursday (08.12.16), he said: "And I followed him over a period, in one of the segments over two or three days, and he shook about 5,00 hands, and the next day he did it again, and the next day he did it again, and my back was aching and my feet were sore and he bounded over to him and said ‘Here you are again.’ And I thought ‘I can’t believe this at 95, this is what I want to be at 95, this engaged with people.’"
