The Maccabees announce farewell shows

The Maccabees have announced three farewell shows.
The British indie rockers – Orlando Weeks, Hugo White, Felix White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle – revealed back in August that they were calling time on their 14-year career.
But they are now making good on their promise to play some "celebration" concerts and will taking to the stage for the final time as a band for their ‘Live For The Last Time: The Farewell Shows’.
Guitarist Felix said: "We’re planning on these final shows being a huge celebration, thank you and goodbye to 14 years of writing, recording, playing and touring together."
The Maccabees will be playing their greatest hits at the O2 Apollo in Manchester on June 28 and at Alexandra Palace in London on June 30 and July 1.
The band told fans they were splitting via Twitter and Facebook in the summer, admitting it had been a "difficult" decision to call time on their career as a five-piece but felt the time was right end their collective musical journey.
Their statement read: "After 14 years as a band we have decided to call it a day. The decision has obviously been an incredibly difficult one, given that The Maccabees has been such a huge part of our lives until now. We are very proud to be able to go out on our own terms and at our creative peak … There have not been fallings out and we are grateful to say that we are not leaving the group behind as a divided force. It has been a rare and absolutely incredible time that we all feel very lucky to have shared.
"Love to anyone who has ever stood by our band, bought our records, come and seen us play, or cared and contributed in whatever capacity it may have been. We have always valued it immeasurably, tried to honour it as best we could and can only say thank you to you all very deeply and sincerely."
The Maccabees formed in 2002 and released four albums; 2007 debut ‘Colour It In’, ‘Wall of Arms’ in 2009, 2012’s ‘Given to the Wild’ and finally ‘Marks To Prove It’, which came out in July 2015.
