‘La La Land’ leads the nominations for the Critics’ Choice Awards with 12.
Damien Chazelle’s spectacular new musical is up for prizes include the coveted Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone, Best Actor for Ryan Gosling – who also scored a nod for Best Actor in a Comedy for his turn in ‘The Nice Guys’ – as well as two separate nominations in the Best Song category.

Joining the three films in the Best Picture category are ‘Fences’, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, ‘Hell or High Water’, ‘Lion’, ‘Loving’, ‘Manchester by the Sea’ and ‘Sully’.
Over the last 10 years, eight of the Best Picture winners have gone on to take the same accolade at the Academy Awards.
‘Manchester by the Sea’ scored heavily in the acting categories, with nods for Best Acting Ensemble, as well as individual recognition for Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, while their 20-year-old co-star Lucas Hedges, is up for both Best Supporting Actor and Best Young Actor/Actress.
As was announced earlier this month, over in the TV categories, FX miniseries ‘The People v O.J. Simpson’ led the nominations with six nods, including Best TV Movie or Limited Series and recognition for its stars Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance and Cuba Gooding Jr., while ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ both received five nods.
Overall, HBO was the most nominated network with 22, followed by both ABC and Netflix on 14 and FX with 12.
