Jodie Kidd named Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year at JustGiving Awards

Jodie Kidd won the Celebrity Fundraiser of the Year Award at the seventh annual JustGiving Awards in London last night (22.11.16).
The 38-year-old model – who is an ambassador for Help for Heroes, a charity that provides better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in action – was on-hand at the annual awards bash at the Brewery, where the charitable efforts of various outstanding individuals, including Jodie, were recognised.
Jodie raised more than £22,000 to help veterans dealing with anxiety and depression by cycling 567 miles and climbing 19,341ft with war veterans.
Zarine Kharas – the co-founder of JustGiving, which is a global online social platform for giving – said: "Every one of our finalists has an amazing story to tell, and it is those stories that make the JustGiving Awards so special. We give to friends and family, to colleagues and neighbours, to honour memories, celebrate survivors, and light up hope.
"And thanks to technology, more of us give to complete strangers than ever before, because we have been moved by their story, and supporting their cause provides a way to show that we care."
Zarine said it was important to recognise efforts of individuals like Jodie.
She explained: "Through our amazing finalists and their inspiring stories, we can see the power and impact human connections can have on good causes and we are privileged to celebrate that tonight at the JustGiving Awards."
Other award winners included Mac McDermott, whose videos of his Alzheimer’s-stricken father Teddy and himself singing have helped raised £100,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, Young Fundraiser of the Year Lyla Brown, who requested donations for WaterAid instead of presents for her fifth birthday, Natalia Spencer, who is walking the 6,000-mile British coastline to raise money for the hospital that cared for her five-year-old daughter Elizabeth before her death last year, and Nicole Sedgebeer, who was able to raise over £13,000 to help and thank a homeless man named Mark after he came to her aid when she missed her last train home.
Since its launch in 2001, JustGiving has enabled 29 million people across 164 countries to raise more than $4.2 billion for charitable causes.
