John Legend is "concerned" about Kanye West.
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker admits he is worried for his friend after the rapper was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital suffering from "exhaustion" and "sleep deprivation".
John told CBS This Morning: "We were with Kim [Kardashian West; Kanye’s wife] actually, you know, right before all of that. I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he’s getting some rest and some time to figure things out."
And the 37-year-old singer hopes Kanye, 39, will get the rest he needs.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he added: "I’m not gonna speak out of term and speak for him. All I can see is what [Kanye] said to the public – and that is he’s tired and needs some rest.
"I think he’s been through a lot lately with what happened to Kim. I think if he needs to rest, I think his fans will be patient and let him rest. He’ll come back stronger, hopefully … He’s the one that signed me, he’s the one that helped discover me and help me get a record deal. I wouldn’t be where I am now without him. I am very grateful to him."
Meanwhile, it was previously claimed that the father-of-two – who has three-year-old daughter North and 23-month-old son Saint with Kim – feels he is "under spiritual attack".
A source said: "He feels like he’s under spiritual attack, and has been for a while. It’s not just the big things; it’s smaller, quieter things, internal things. You might think that it’s about Kim’s robbery, and while that didn’t help, that’s not what’s going on here. He’s dealing with a lot more subtle issues.
"Sometimes, darkness creeps in, and Kanye wrestles against it. He talks about that a lot. It’s exhausting, and it takes everything he’s got. He’s just so tired now; he’s very low energy and feels like there’s a grieving in his spirit. It’s very hard to explain, but something has happened recently, where he’s not the Ye that everyone knows … He’s in a very reflective place right now."
