David Oyelowo wants boxing movie role

David Oyelowo has "very real ambitions" to star in a boxing movie.
The 40-year-old actor currently has a movie about fighter Sugar Ray Robinson in development, and though it is a role he’d love, he’s still unsure whether he’ll take it on or remain behind the camera.
He said: "I have very real ambitions of playing a boxer.
"Whether I get to play him – or, I should say, whether I choose to play him or end up just producing that one – that’s something that remains to be seen."
David famously played Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in ‘Selma’ and thinks the key to the movie’s success was its director, Ava DuVernay.
He said: "That film really taught me something about perspective. The perspective that Ava had meant I saw the female characters become more three-dimensional.
"I saw Dr. King become not just a political figure but an emotional human being. Having a character that went through Ava DuVernay’s female, African-American and incredibly talented perspective meant a much richer character and a much better film."
David’s grandfather was the king of a part of Nigeria and though he never experienced much of royal life, he thinks his background made him more confident.
He told Esquire magazine: "I’ve never felt subservient or in any way lesser than anyone around me.
"Despite having a fairly working- to middle-class upbringing, the notion of being royalty psychologically definitely does something to you that you go into your life in a more self-posessed state."
