Arcade Fire to headline Isle of Wight Festival

Arcade Fire are the first headliners confirmed for the Isle of Wight Festival 2017.
The ‘Afterlife’ hitmakers – fronted by Win Butler – will top the bill at the annual music event held at Seaclose Park in Newport, Isle of Wight on Saturday June 10, for what will be their only UK festival performance of next year.
The festival’s organiser, John Giddings, has revealed that the late David Bowie – who sadly passed away in January, following a secret battle with cancer – introduced the indie rock group to him and suggested they should play the iconic music extravaganza.
John said: "I’m so happy to have secured Arcade Fire as our first headliners. David Bowie recommended them and I’ve been a fan ever since.
"Last year saw an incredible year and I’m ready for us to come back even better in 2017."
Last year’s festival was a triumph with musical legends Queen + Adam Lambert, The Who, Iggy Pop and many more gracing the main stage.
With two headlining acts yet to be confirmed those rumoured include Guns N’ Roses, Beyonce, Coldplay, Phil Collins and Green Day.
Over the years Isle of Wight Festival has seen a whole host of legendary acts perform including the Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, The Killers, Paul McCartney and Coldplay.
Early bird tickets for the Isle of Wight Festival go on sale on November 7 at 9am.
