Mary Berry will present new BBC One series Mary Berry’s Secrets From Britain’s Greatest House

Mary Berry is set to present a new BBC One series called ‘Mary Berry’s Secrets From Britain’s Greatest House’.
The 81-year-old culinary queen has signed her first deal with the broadcasting network after the Corporation lost its bid to continue to air ‘The Great British Bake Off’, and the new programme will see Mary explore a variety of stately homes in Britain and create tasty treats to celebrate the building’s history.
BBC One controller, Charlotte Moore, confirmed the news at the Broadcast Commissioning Forum on Thursday (03.11.16), she said: "This series will be a real treat for BBC One viewers to go behind the scenes with Mary Berry and explore Britain’s great houses through her love of cooking."
And the former judge on the popular baking show has admitted she is "so excited" to be returning to our screens with the new series because she has an "enquiring mind".
She said: "I am so excited to be doing this new series with the BBC – I have always had an enquiring mind so I know I will be inspired by the great houses we visit."
The six-part series will see the British food writer and much-loved television personality visit various locations where will meet with the staff who work there and people who live there to discover more about the site before rustling up her own dishes.
And the managing director at series production company Shine TV, Tanya Shaw, has revealed there was nobody more fitting for the role than Mary.
She explained: "Following the success of Mary Berry’s Easter Feast last year, we are delighted to be working with Mary on this exciting new series.
"I can’t think of anyone more perfect to tell the stories of these great households and to bring us such a unique insight into Britain’s rich culinary past."
